About the movement

What is La French Tech?

A government-backed movement uniting French startups, founders, and innovators in 117 communities across 52 countries, and Tokyo is one of them.

The big picture

La French Tech is the official label for the French startup ecosystem. It is a public movement, launched by the French government, that brings together founders, investors, public institutions, and overseas communities under one banner.

Behind the rooster logo is one of the most active tech ecosystems in Europe: thousands of companies building software, hardware, biotech, climate tech, AI, and deep tech, supported by a coordinated set of programs and a worldwide community network.

La French Tech Tokyo is the local relay of that movement in Japan. We are one of 117 chapters that act as ambassadors for French innovation around the world. Learn more about the global initiative at lafrenchtech.gouv.fr.

Where La French Tech meets Japan

La French Tech Tokyo is the Japanese chapter of the global movement: a volunteer-run, non-profit community of 900+ founders, operators, investors, and innovators bridging the French and Japanese tech worlds.

Our role is threefold:

  • Support French entrepreneurs and startups already in Japan, or planning the move, by sharing our network and expertise.
  • Assist Japanese entrepreneurs and investors looking to expand their development into France.
  • Increase Awareness of the French startup ecosystem in Japan through events, content, and partnerships.
