President Macron in Japan: A Historic Week for French Tech Tokyo
French President Emmanuel Macron conducted an official visit to Japan from March 31 to April 2, 2026, a week that proved to be a landmark moment for French-Japanese relations and for the French Tech community in Tokyo.
The Presidential Visit
President Macron met with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for discussions spanning a wide range of strategic areas: trade, investment, energy sovereignty, space, defense, nuclear energy, science and technology, education, culture, and people-to-people exchange. The visit reinforced the strong bilateral momentum currently shaping French-Japanese economic relations.
A Special Networking Event
On March 31, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (CCIFJ) hosted a special networking event bringing together French companies alongside MEDEF International, Business France, and La French Tech. It was an opportunity for the community to connect, exchange, and explore new avenues for collaboration in a forward-looking business environment.
Celebrating 10 Years of La French Tech Tokyo
This visit also coincided with the celebration of 10 years of La French Tech Tokyo. Over the past decade, the community has grown from a small group of French entrepreneurs in Tokyo to a vibrant network of over 600 members, supported by a dedicated board of volunteers working to bridge the French and Japanese tech ecosystems.
In the past three years alone, the board has contributed to strengthening Franco-Japanese relationships on the tech side through monthly networking events, panels, mentoring programs, and partnerships with key institutions including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
As our president Aude Moras reflected: more than a tech moment, this was a human moment, a testament to the work of everyone who has contributed to building and sustaining this community.
Here is to the next ten years of French Tech Tokyo.
